Trompe l’œil grisaille* niche with marble statuette.
This was a show piece painted up for my stand at
the 2008 Windsor Contemporary Art Fair (see art links via links and email page).
It is painted on thin synthetic "canvas" mural medium for pasting-up like wallpaper,
a process called marouflage* by us muralists.
The see more button below will show it on the easel.
This means I can paint in my studio, saving time with travel and causing less disruption on the site.
The subject ("Eve" by Thomas Brock (1906)) is taken from my favourite statue in the Victoria and Albert Museum.(Also see art links via links and email page).
* These terms and others explained on my glossary page.
Executed in acrylics on synthetic canvas, approximately 1m x 60 cms. In studio, June 2008.
Now in a private collection.
